ORDER IN THE HOUSE
A Study of the Book of Titus: Chapter 1:10-16

Ephesians 6:12 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

You can’t win a battle if you don’t know you’re in it.

In Chapter 1, Paul reminds Titus of three responsibilities he had to fulfill.

He was to …

I.    Preach the Word – 1:1-4
II.    Ordain Qualified Leaders – 1:5-9
III.    Silence False Teachers – 1:10-16

Three facts about these false teachers:

A.    What they were personally.

1 Corinthians 9:27 “But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.”

B.    What they did.

Titus 3:9-11

C.    Why they did it.

Matthew 6:24 ““No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”

1 Timothy 4:2 “speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,”

Paul added one further matter:

D.    What Titus was to do.

You cannot be a passive Christian!

2 Timothy 4:2 “Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.”

Galatians 5:9 “A little leaven leavens the whole lump.”
