Slavic Gospel Association
Slavic Gospel Association’s theological training program for the Soviet Union provides training for Christian leaders in Russia. They produce and distribute Bibles and Christian books and produce and broadcast short-wave radio programs into the homes of Russian people.
Our heavenly Father has promised…Call to Me and I will answer you and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know (Jeremiah 33:3). This inspired verse was the favorite of Slavic Gospel Association’s founder, Rev. Peter Deyneka, Sr. (1898-1987). An immigrant from the former Soviet republic of Belarus, Rev. Deyneka began SGA in 1934 with a passion to see his native people won to Christ. Buoyed by the eternal promise of God’s Word, he never wavered in his belief that the Bible-preaching churches he loved so much would one day be free to proclaim the Gospel across his homeland. True to His Word, God did move in a mighty way. Without warning He brought the Iron Curtain crashing down. Since then, we have seen Him dong great and mighty things through His Church in these once-captive nations. For nearly seven decades, in whatever means possible, SGA has served the precious Bible-preaching churches of the lands of Russia.
Dr. Robert Provost has served as European director for SEND International, as Executive Vice President of The Master’s College and Seminary, and as the Senior Associate Pastor of The Chapel in University Park, Akron, Ohio. He received a BA in Russian from Syracuse University in 1963, a Master’s of Divinity from Grace Theological Seminary in 1977, and an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from The Master’s College in 1988.
Slavic Gospel Association, an interdenominational mission organization, has been working in the former Soviet Union since 1934.
As a Church, we have supported SGA since May 1988.
