Mark Marchak serves as the National Director of Urban Ministry for Mission to the Americas. Though he is based in New York City and leads a team of church planters and other missionaries there, he also oversees ministry across the United States and Montreal, Canada.
Mark facilitated the starting of dozens of churches among the twenty million people of Metropolitan New York since 1980. He is inspired by the biblical descriptions of the New Song (Rev. 5:9) and the New Jerusalem (Rev. 21). Accordingly, he has developed a team that reflects the growing diversity of the United States: half the urban missions with MTTA are Black, Hispanic, or Asian, and about a third are foreign born. Ministry is done in eleven languages plus English.
Karen and Mark were married in 1977 and have two children. Alena is a graduate of the Columbus College of Art and Design, and Aron graduated from Queens College in New York. The Marchaks are members of Central Baptist Church on Manhattan’s West Side, where he maintains his office.
